A History of Music

It's been a while. Life's caught up with me. Jobs. Conferences. Lack of sleep. Confusion with my life. I appologize to all three of you who are subscribing to my nonsense. Now that I'm good and ready, I shall begin again. A friend of mine works works for The Economist - " More Intelligent Life ", actually - and he posted a few weeks ago on the Youtube orchestra, that appeared at Carnegie Hall last month. If you have an hour, and have yet to check it out, I would. Blah blah blah, it warms my heart with the potential of the interwebs to progress peoples' lives and not just be a conduit for my word-vomiting or porn-searching. Whatever. It's amazing. Michael Tilson Thomas (or MTT as he is so affectionately known) lead the prodigies, youth, and young adults, through an hour of adaggio, rondo grosso, venti-latte, pianinissimo pieces in a way that only he, as a rockstar can do. But, I have a problem: I think MTT is a bit of a racist, or just ignorant as hell. I

The Beauty and the Simplicity

Today is Annie Leibovitz day...in my mind. It started with a glorious post on Vanity Fair , and has continued with a frantic search for my favorite photo of hers, that I have yet to find (if anyone knows it, its the one of the man hanging upside-down at Coney Island. There is a large crowd under him, including my best friend of the 1990's, Julie Wallack, and a friend (Britney), and Britney's father. The crowd is fixed on the performer. The photographer doesn't exist. And that's what I find so amazing about Annie L's work. Insert cliche sentences here. Blah blah blah. Fly on the wall. Natural. Vulnerable. Crux of the human. Etc. I chose a few faves to share. Hope you fall in love too. These pictures are worth at least a thousand of my words.

That's what Pete Said

It's been a while. For the three of you who are subscribed to my blog, I am truly sorry. I spent the last week making mistakes and losing my voice while touring around the Bay Area with the Brown Derbies (oh the perks of unemployment. They paid for most things since I brought food and housed them so it was actually a $20 week). ANYHOW, I'm back with some light reading . I heard about #1 sophomore year from some of my MPC friends. Words words words. Makes you think about the stigmatization of some and not others. Just a thought. Night, friends.

They got bigger . Jamie, this one's for you. Gross. Also, did this biddy get a face lift too? And a tummy tuck...and arm reconstruction? And a niiiiice hair-cut. Okay, the image is a lie. It was reconstruction, but the website wont add that AWESOME photo of the poor woman whose saggy boobs were displayed allz over the interwebs. Am I a lolcat? Happy new year. BOOBS!

Mo' Rocca

Yet another reason why I love Mo. Also, just for good measure: Eat it, A.C (and not, Anderson Cooper)
